Equipping Leaders

We know the Holy Spirit will work amazingly in the lives of the participants as they engage with this process. There is no doubt the Spirit will surprise us in many ways. For that we are grateful.

John 14:25 – The Holy Spirit will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. (Jesus)

We also know that our prayer going into Transformational Discipleship and throughout will be that the participants be well equipped with some specific tools.

Ephesians 4:12-13 – Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.

The participants “equipping” means they will:

  • Be well-versed in spiritual rhythms (prayer, solitude, silence, journaling, etc.) as they maintain a vibrant, healthy relationship with God; the goal will be to have leaders who are even more committed to loving God and loving people as they love themselves
  • Have a greater appreciation for the way Jesus authentically served others and be motivated to follow His example by being generous – continuously and creatively
  • Practice the dynamics of being a transformational person:
    • Purpose-Centered: having their own personal mission statement
    • Inner-Directed: being clear of their personal values and guiding principles
    • Other-Focused: serving others by knowing and engaging with their unique talents
    • Externally-Open: stepping into opportunities in our congregation and community as they intentionally bring the “righteousness, peace, and joy” of the Kingdom (Romans 14:17)
  • Pursue building healthy teams and be aware of the obstacles, addressing them accordingly
  • Mentor future leaders; inviting others into the process of transformation
